Rules of Merchanting
The sum of what you need too follow to be a sucessful merchanter can be broken down to four solid rules. Bellow are some rules which you must absoulotely follow tob esucessful while merchanting:
- Rule 1: Note down what you buy
Sooner or later you will begin buying many many items, and each of them will have their own pros and cons. It is a good
idea to have a pencil and a piece of paper to write down what you
bought, how many you bought, the cost per unit and the total cost. This
way if you forget you will know, to make sure that you don't lose money, and that you can continue to make money in the future.
- Rule 2: NEVER Merchant Static-Price Items
There are some items in runescape which are kept at a still price, forever. It is generally a horriable idea to merchant these items, as you will make no money!
- Rule 3: Never Sell For the Maximum Price
WHen you buy in the GE you are trying to out bid other peoples offers. Your goal is to beat their prices! So, think about it this way, most people carelessly click the max price button, what if you simply decrease that price by 1gp 100gp 1000gp? This tip can be very very useful in manking sure you land deals on many items.
Set Merchanting
Set Merchanting
Set merchanting is a very profitable merchanting technique which need a bit of an explaination to get use to. Set merchanting sounds complicated, but in execution is very simple. If you were to go to the Grand Exchange and buy all the pieces that make up, say, a rune armor set, put them into a set and sell them for larger than market price, you will make profit.
For example, suppose the following items were on the market:
- Rune Full Helmet: 22,000gp
- Rune Platebody:49,852
- Rune Kiteshield: 43,000
- Rune Platelegs: 42,500
If you were to buy each for 500gp less than the market price, put it into a set and sell it for the market price, you would make a 2,000gp profit:
4 items * ( Market Price - 500gp ) = 2,000gp
Offcourse this is only with one set, you could easily repeate this process only a few times and you can start earning a great amount of cash, quickly.
Note: Remember, these prices may not be accurate - this is only an example! Check the Grand Exchange on Runescapes official website for the latest price info.
