Hubpages tips
59I've been here on hub-pages for almost one year as of now. Let me tell you, hubpages has changed a great degree since I began writing here. It's obvious that the site has gotten larger, meaning the diversity of content has increased significantly. It is also true however that hubpages has developed a number of new and helpful tools, to increase your chances of being noticed in the vast jungle of ideas. I've taken time to assemble a list of tips and suggestions for anyone that develops hubpages, wether for monetary profit or not.
The tips!
- Make connections! - get to know people of similar or even distant niche's. Building a bond with a community is a very powerful commodity as it will be of great benefit for helping you build a small audience. Keep in mind the power of word of mouth and try to associate yourself with groups like the "hubmob".
- Use feedback - Whenever possible you should stress that your viewers comment on how you can improve your work. Writing is in a very real sense a business, and a business that isn't growing, is dying.
- Be inspired - Try to only write about what you find interesting, there are a multitude of categories that you can choose the target so be creative! You could try writing hubs about technology, about environmentally friendly or Geo-conscious ideas. You could write about sports events like the soccer world cup, the Olympics etc... You can build on knowledge and education niches, try writing about anything that you will find interesting and it will show in the quality of your work!
- Do your homework - look into related hubs, and lookout for other media coverages of your topic. Often topics are far too large for you to cover everything about, understanding how other people tackled them could give you a great insight on how you should focus on the story. It may even be helpful to contact the authors of the successful hubs that you see and ask them for tips. In my experience hubpages residences are usually very helpful people indeed!
- Reflect - look back at the work that you have done in the past. See what you liked or did not like about it. Oftentimes you may be surprised with what you are capable of doing by reflecting on an old piece of work. Keep in mind however that this is not only true in the positive, it is especially important to realise your failings, to be able to do this masterfully will arguably be your second most valuable commodity.
- Give back -- This goes back to the make connections point. If you lend a helping hand to people who are just starting out you are very likely to build a loyal follower. Market your experience to win over the respect of people, who could very well be as successful as you, if not more.
- Have fun - If you find at times that writing about a specific topic like let's say "Religion and Spirituality" or "pets and animals" is getting boring then try something new! I can't stress it more but finding your niche is the most important part of writing successfully, and your niche is not going to be static. It's going to change every now and then, along with your shifts of interests.
