The first Video on YouTube

Youtube was founded sometime in the year 2005, by founders Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim. Like all great, towering technological giants the company was founded by relatively young and inexperienced geeks. The idea however was brilliant, and as is the story with brilliant ideas, it spread like wildfire. Youtube was purchased by google soon after sometimes around 2006, for a total sum of 1.65 Billion dollars. Google accredited this with this statement "The exciting and powerful platform YouTube has built complements Google's mission to organise the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful.".This purchase bought google a media giant, that now (in 2010) gathers more views than the super bowl, everyday! That's right youtube is veiwed more times than the super bowl! At this current point in time youtube gets around 100 million views everyday!

The video bellow, is the first ever posted on youtube. It is by Jawed Karim, one of youtubes founders. All of the founders of youtube were previous employees of PayPal, that is before the cashed in on the 1.65Bn. Suprisingly this video has only gathered somewhere around 3.6million views on youtube.
